Summary
We are seeking a Carpenter / Drywaller to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for completing various carpentry and drywall reconstruction tasks on residential and commercial projects following a loss through events such as floods, water, fire, wind, and hail. This position is responsible for building, installing, and repairing structures, fixtures, furniture, and other items using different types of materials including wood and steel, as well as insulation installation, drywall installation and finishing, wall and ceiling texturing, and potentially, if qualified, painting / staining.
Responsibilities
- Review work orders and execute tasks, which may include, but are not limited to finish carpentry (casing, baseboards, trim, cabinetry, countertops, shelving, doors, windows), rough carpentry (framing, stairs, board ups), and drywall, tape, mud, texture, prime and paint (if qualified)
- Review work orders and execute tasks, which may include, but are not limited to, insulation (install batt, blown-in, and vapour barrier insulation in accordance with Alberta Building Code and manufacturer specifications; ensure proper air sealing, thermal performance, and moisture control); drywall (install drywall sheets, including cutting, fitting, fastening, and patching; tape, mud, and sand drywall; repair damaged drywall and complete small-to-large-scale rebuilds); and, texturing (apply various wall and ceiling texture finishes (e.g., knockdown, orange peel, splatter, hand texture; match existing textures accurately during restoration repairs)
- If qualified, review work orders and execute tasks, which may include, but are not limited to, painting (e.g., prepare surfaces for painting, including sanding, priming, caulking, and repairs; apply paint, stain, or coatings using brush, roller, or spray equipment; perform full spray applications for ceilings, walls, trim, and doors, including proper masking and overspray protection)
- Communicate daily with the Project Manager(s) on the work’s progress and identify any concerns, and relay information regarding future task scheduling needs.
- Provide the Project Manager(s) with a list of materials, equipment and supplies needed.
- Respond to emergency claims, after hours, when needed, and potentially work on out-of-town projects.
Requirements
- Knowledge of the tools, equipment, materials and installation practices common to the carpentry and drywall trade
- Knowledge of cabinet-making techniques is considered an asset
- Knowledge of estimating materials required for projects
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and an acceptable driving record
- Experience in the restoration industry is considered beneficial
- Minimum 2 years experience in carpentry, insulation, drywall finishing, texture, or painting preferred; multi-trade experience is a strong asset
- Assets: Elevating Work Platforms and Fall Protection Training, Standard First Aid CPR Level C

Pay: $25.00-$39.00 per hour
