Why is this role important?
Reporting to the Manager, Planning and Analytics, this role is accountable to help develop and drive analytic reporting tools and capabilities to support the Home & Entertainment Merchandising team. This role provides the day to day analytical support by compiling, reviewing and analyzing internal, competitive and industry data to make recommendations to support the business strategy.
- Assist the team with the development and implementation of analytic tools and capabilities to support business objectives
- Ability to understand database structures and bring together various data sources into one unified view
Ability to implement best data management practices
Able to develop Price and Promotions modelling and simulation
Able to train and socialize Analytical tools and capabilities with the broader business
Ability to leverage top shelf data (segmentation, cross-shop, loyalty and importance, and consumer insights) to understand customer level inputs impacting category performance
Collaborate closely with the central analytics counterparts to better understand our customer and how they interact with our various categories across our several formats.
Ability to consolidate and review promo optimization data to support category decisions in order to achieve and stretch budgeted targets
Annual/Quarterly Planning Analysis:
Ability to work with business group leadership to provide analytical insight of group performance
Conduct analysis required for aligning and measuring key metrics in support of objectives
Leverage financial modeling techniques to analyze group sales and profit as well as to identify opportunities and areas to optimize
Other duties may be assigned as required
Post-secondary education in CS (Preferably Masters in Analytics and/or related field)
Must be well-versed in Python & SQL
Superior analytical, problem solving and judgment skills
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to story-tell with data
Detail oriented and strong time management skills.
Ability to analyze large amounts of data to bring forward key takeaways into an easy to read framework
Core understanding of statistical methods and analyses
Strong Excel fundamentals is required, with modeling skills an asset
Previous experience in retail operations and/or merchandising is an asset
