Our outdoor spacious rooftop playground and learning facility was architecturally mastered by one of Toronto's best known designers, an homage to the original owner of these lands, John Howard, Toronto's first surveyor and one of Canada's greatest architects. We are hiring a permanent, full-time cook.
Qualifications:
- Experience cooking for children
- Valid Vulnerable Sector Check
- Food Handler's Certificate
- CPR-C and Standard First Aid
Job Description:
- Prepare and deliver healthy, nutritious hot lunch and two snacks (morning and afternoon) for approximately 132 children (infants, toddlers and preschool) in compliance with the Canada Food Guide.
- Create a Four-weekly rotating menu according to the changing seasons using available fresh seasonal produce Introduce food choices that represent the ethnic diversity of the children in the centre.
- Calculate adequate quantity of raw materials needed for meal preparation
- Maintain food inventory, order food and shop for fresh products.
- Monitor, order and stock all cleaning and hygiene products to uphold the health and safety regulations of the daycare centre.
- Adhere to Toronto Public Health food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Complete daily temperature audits for fridge and freezer.
- Clear soiled dishes from classrooms, rinse dishes, wash cooking utensils, sanitize and restock dishes and utensils.
- Sanitize all kitchen appliances, counter surfaces and floors to ensure a healthy and hygienic environment.
- Attend staff meetings and other training sessions
