JOB SUMMARY:
The Receptionist provides front-line customer service to Recreation Complex users by responding to enquiries, processing transactions and supporting registration services. The incumbent provides clerical and administrative support to the Recreation Division and administration staff and maintains accurate records. The incumbent works collaboratively with staff to meet departmental administrative needs and support safe, respectful and inclusive delivery of service at the Recreation Complex.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Training:
High School (Grade 12). WHMIS Certificate. Intermediate First Aid Certification and AED Training. Minimum of three (3) months of accredited training in computer software and operating systems relevant to administrative support. Minimum typing speed of 35 words per minute.
Experience: Six (6) months of related customer service experience such as cashiering, clerical or recreation administration experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to use standard office software, recreation-specific computer applications, administrative systems and office technology to complete routine administrative tasks accurately. Working knowledge of Recreation Complex operational policies and emergency procedures. Skill in communicating clearly, respectfully and professionally with the public, staff and facility users to support efficient front counter service and productive working relationships. Ability to apply sound judgment when handling routine enquiries, processing transactions and recognizing when referral or escalation is required. Ability to maintain accurate records related to registrations, admissions, contracts, bookings, inventory and first aid documentation. Skill in processing cash, balancing transactions and preparing bank deposits with accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to work within, and contribute to, a high-functioning team environment. Ability to organize work, manage competing requests and complete tasks accurately during busy service periods. Working knowledge of safe work procedures and ability to report hazards, incidents and unsafe conditions promptly. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive customer, staff and incident information with discretion. Ability to approach work and relationships in a culturally sensitive and inclusive manner.
PAY RATE:
This is a union position with the current pay rate of $31.49 per hour as outlined in the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 798 Collective Agreement.
HOURS OF WORK:
Varied schedule including early mornings, evenings, and weekends
Please note: This position is to provide extra capacity and to cover for absences such as sick and vacation relief. It requires availability for both short-notice and pre-scheduled work.
