At The Giving Tree Centre, we comprise a seasoned team of mental health professionals driven by the mission to assist children, adults and families in developing the awareness, skills, and capacity to heal, grow, learn, and thrive.
Our Centre was born in response to the escalating children's mental health crisis exacerbated by the global COVID pandemic. Upon hearing numerous stories from desperate parents struggling to find quality support for their children's anxiety and other concerns, we decided to take action and committed ourselves to creating a responsive, compassionate, and comprehensive practice, centered on supporting the inherent strengths and well-being that exist within each child and family. We have now expanded from servicing youth-only to adults and the general population.
The Giving Tree Centre specializes in various therapeutic modalities for children and adults, including play therapy, family therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, individual therapy, art therapy, and assessments such as psychoeducational and socioemotional evaluations for children under 18 years old. We have assembled a robust team of psychologists, psychotherapists, speech pathologists, occupational therapists, and parent coaches to assist children, adults and families in navigating a broad spectrum of challenges, from anxiety and depression to eating disorders and suicidal thoughts. What we’re looking for:
We are seeking a Psychometrist to provide autism testing and assessment services for disadvantaged children and youth of all aspects of clients’ cognitive function affecting treatment decisions under the supervision of our Child Psychologists. Work involves performing preliminary interviews, administering standardized and experimental psychological tests, recording client responses, and preparing reports.
- Must be experienced with administering and is independently competent with the ADOS and/or the ADI, as well as ASD rating scales.
- Must be located in the GTA for in-person testing in Toronto
- Gathers and reviews client documentation ; conducts interviews with clients; administers, scores and provides an interpretation of a variety of cognitive, perceptual, language, motor and sensory testing.
- Consults with multidisciplinary team including psychologist to discuss clients’ assessment; communicates test results to psychologists through scored test formats and verbal and/or written reports; and writes progress notes/reports on charts indicating intellectual ability/mental status.
· Assists in maintaining and ordering all test material inventory.
· Maintains all client files and consults with psychologist on caseload review.
· Monitors mental status of clients through formal and informal reassessment techniques.
- The successful candidate must have the knowledge and skills to provide quality care to our clients.
- Provide complete documentation and records of assessments and treatments according to in-house policies.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Comfortable with standard computer technology, video conferencing and ability to learn new systems.
- Adhere to all professional, ethical, and legal regulations as determined by relevant regulatory bodies and the law.
- Willingness to attend team meetings, as well as seminars on topics relevant to our client base.
Compensation:
$40-60 per hour or more depending upon your experience, training, qualifications and skill diversity.
