Job Summary
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Summer Camp Assistants to support our summer program for children in Nanaimo. This role offers an exciting opportunity to engage with young learners, foster their development, and create a fun and safe environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and experience in tutoring or teaching, especially within early childhood education. As a Summer Camp Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring campers have an enjoyable and enriching summer experience.
Duties
- Assist lead instructors in planning and implementing daily activities tailored to various age groups
- Support children during recreational, educational, and creative activities to promote engagement and learning
- Supervise children to ensure safety and well-being at all times
- Help facilitate group games, arts and crafts, and other camp events
- Maintain a clean and organized activity area and ensure all equipment is used safely
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff to promote a positive camp environment
- Support the overall organization of camp logistics and special events
Qualifications
- Experience working with children in educational or recreational settings, including tutoring or teaching roles
- Background in early childhood education or related field is preferred
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage children in a positive manner
- Patience, creativity, and enthusiasm for working with young learners
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team in a dynamic environment
- Reliable, responsible, and committed to creating a safe space for children during the summer program
- Current and clear criminal record check
- current basic first aid training
Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
