SUMMARY
This position reports to the Manager, Occupational Health & Safety Services supporting OH&S Services by fulfilling the safety component of the Department covering King Street, Charlton and West 5th locations. The position maintains current knowledge of OH&S legislation, guidelines and developments, recommends and facilitates communication of relevant information to management, employees and others and recommends and facilitates the development of best practices to support a comprehensive OH&S Program at SJHH. The position acts as an advisor to Managers and the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committees (JOHSC) regarding legislative interpretation and compliance. The position administers and manages corporate wide programmes such as Employee Incident/Hazard Reporting and Investigation, Occupational Hygiene monitoring, WHMIS/GHS, Respiratory Fit Testing. (list of all programs available). Monitors/analyses accident/incident trends for action/prevention. This position is the liaison with external organizations when addressing OH&S issues.

The position is responsible for the safety component of the Occupational Health & Safety (OH & S) program. It complements the Occupational Health, Ergonomics/Rehabilitation and Disability Management Programs of Occupational Health & Safety Services.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Development and management of safety policies, procedures and programs
- Developing and delivering training programs
- Identification, evaluation and control of hazards and risks
- Analyses of incident/injury reports, corrective actions and statistics
- Resource to the Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committees, managers/supervisors
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3-5 years of experience in safety preferably in healthcare setting.
- University degree in a related program
- CRSP, ROH, ROHT preferred
- Exceptional interpersonal, leadership, problem-solving and teaching skills
- Self-motivated with organizational skills to manage multiple projects
- Strong computer skills
