Description:
The University of Toronto is seeking applications for the next Elisabeth S. Barford Early Career Professorship in Multiple Sclerosis. The successful candidate will be eligible for a full-time clinical faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor at the University of Toronto’s Department of Medicine. The Professorship term is three years, renewable once for a second three-year term. The tentative start date of this appointment is October 1, 2024, or as mutually agreed.
The successful candidate will have an established multiple sclerosis research program with evidence of excellence in scientific productivity and leadership. Consideration will be given to the applicant’s record of scholarly activity - including grants, peer-reviewed publications, program development, collaborations with research organizations, supervision of graduate students and/or research fellows - or other relevant impact in the field. The Professorship holder will also have a record of excellence in teaching and mentorship. Additionally, they will bring with them strong administrative, collaborative leadership, and interpersonal skills. The Professorship reports to the Dean, Temerty Faculty of Medicine and the Chair, Department of Medicine.
The endowed chair will support academic activities of the Professorship holder, which may include salary support, research operations, and relevant educational events. Preference will be given to candidates not currently holding a University of Toronto or Affiliated Hospital Chair.
Clinical activities and related compensation, if applicable, will be negotiated with the relevant Department and Division heads.
