Chemistry Teacher (High School) – Job Description
Position Summary
We are seeking a qualified and dedicated Chemistry Teacher to deliver Ontario Secondary School curriculum courses and support students in achieving academic success. The successful candidate will create an engaging learning environment, assess student progress, and maintain accurate academic records in accordance with Ontario Ministry of Education requirements.
Responsibilities
- Teach Ontario curriculum Chemistry courses, including:
- SCH3U – Chemistry, Grade 11, University Preparation
- SCH4U – Chemistry, Grade 12, University Preparation
- Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments.
- Deliver classroom and laboratory instruction in a safe and effective manner.
- Evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback.
- Maintain attendance, grades, and student records.
- Prepare report cards and communicate with parents when required.
- Support students in developing critical thinking and scientific inquiry skills.
- Ensure compliance with Ontario Ministry of Education policies and school procedures.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school activities.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Science, Education, or a related field.
- Ontario Teaching Certificate (OCT) in good standing, or equivalent teaching qualifications.
- Strong knowledge of the Ontario Secondary School Curriculum.
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
- Ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred
- Experience teaching SCH3U and SCH4U courses.
- Experience preparing students for university science programs.
- Familiarity with virtual learning platforms and educational technology.
