Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Deli Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, preparing food items, and maintaining a clean and organized deli area. This role is essential in ensuring a positive shopping experience for our customers while adhering to food safety standards and sanitation protocols. Previous restaurant or food industry experience is a plus, but we welcome motivated individuals eager to learn.
Duties
- Prepare and assemble deli food items according to company standards, including slicing meats, cheeses, and other products.
- Operate POS systems such as Micros POS for processing transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Handle cash and perform cashiering duties with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Provide exceptional customer service by assisting customers with their selections, answering questions, and upselling products when appropriate.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the deli area, including food preparation surfaces, equipment, and display cases.
- Manage inventory levels, restock items as needed, and ensure proper food handling procedures are followed.
- Follow food safety guidelines and sanitation standards to ensure compliance with health regulations.
- Assist in food preparation tasks in the kitchen area when necessary, supporting overall store operations.
- Demonstrate effective time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently during busy periods.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in food service, restaurant work, or the food industry is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of POS systems such as Micros POS is a plus.
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly attitude and good communication abilities.
- Basic math skills for cash handling and transaction accuracy.
- Understanding of food safety practices and sanitation standards.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Experience with food preparation, serving, cashiering, or upselling products is advantageous.
