Summary of position
The primary responsibility of the Shunter is to safely move and organize trailers within our yard, ensuring efficient flow of operations. As trailer movements are not required throughout the entire shift, the Shunter will also perform warehouse and material handling duties when not operating as a Shunter.
Schedule : Day shift 6h30 to 15h00
Day to day responsibilities :
Shunter Duties
- Safely move and position trailers within the yard and at loading docks.
- Back trailers into and pull trailers out of dock doors.
- Organize trailers in the yard according to operational needs.
- Connect and disconnect trailers as required.
- Perform routine vehicle and equipment inspections.
- Ensure the yard remains safe, clean, and organized.
- Follow all company safety procedures and traffic rules.
- Communicate with dispatch, warehouse, and operations teams to coordinate trailer movements.
Warehouse / Material Handling Duties
- Load and unload freight using appropriate material handling equipment.
- Move, sort, and organize freight within the warehouse.
- Ensure freight is handled safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Perform other warehouse duties as required.
Qualifications :
- Previous Shunter/Yard Driver experience
- Experience in a warehouse or transportation environment
- Valid Class 1 Driver’s Licence (An Asset)
- Clean driving record
- Ability to work physically
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong attention to safety and detail
Rémunération : 22,00$ à 26,00$ par heure
