Job Summary
We are looking for skilled and motivated Mobile Trailer Mechanics with an entrepreneurial mindset to join us as Independent Contractors. Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical systems; landing gear assemblies and trailer frames; hitching/coupling systems; trailer bodies; suspensions systems; tires, wheels, hubs, and axles; air and auxiliary systems; braking systems; heating and refrigeration systems as well as ventilation devices and hydraulic systems
- Use hand tools and various specialized diagnostic equipment to diagnose, isolate and repair faults
- Review work orders and execute on those assigned to you
- Follow defined work order process and procedures, ensuring detailed, accurate and timely completion of all records daily.
- Perform scheduled maintenance service and test repaired systems
- Read and interpret owner/operator/manufacturer operating manuals and service specifications
- Explain mechanical issues in a clear and concise manner.
- Provide estimates for repairs and services as required by clients
- Follow all safety protocols when working on trailers
- Keep up to date on technology and upgrade skills as required
- Ensure any parts used are charged accurately to the repair order and participate in regular physical counts of all materials in possession
Job Requirements
- Licensed Truck-Trailer Service Technician preferred, or Truck and Coach Technician with all required skills and certifications to the trade
- Comfortable using technology, taking before and after picture of repairs, and using the new DriveOn electronic system for safety process.
- Welding, fabricating, electrical, mechanical and reefer experience an asset
- Must be able to provide registered company name & HST number, along with proof of vehicle, liability, and WSIB insurance, in addition to owning own truck and tools
- Organized and self-motivated worker with great attention to detail
- A clean drivers abstract
- Ability to lift heavy parts up to 50 lbs on occasion
- Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, training documents and complete repair procedures in accordance with Ministry of Transportation repair requirements
- Ability to apply common sense to understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
