The Construction Supervisor is responsible to successfully execute field construction project activities all in accordance with CPNA’s procedures, plans and specifications while satisfying the project objectives. The ability to steward the construction budgets and schedule. Steward the onsite execution by construction contractors (EPC firms), 3rd party services and all project interfaces (Ops, D&P department, etc.). The Construction Supervisor will support the E&C Project Manager in all aspects of project development including design, planning and execution. These include but are not limited to Sustaining and New Project Well pads, existing plant modifications at Long Lake and K1A, and all other Small projects and .
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Participate in front end project planning by providing constructability expertise to engineering and project management
- Responsible for construction in conjunction with Project Manager including trends, forecast, estimates, schedules and issues.
- Monitor and control the execution of work conducted in the field
- Implement optimization strategies to improve efficiencies as part of lean manufacturing processes
- Ensure Construction team is “right size” to operate efficiently
- Directly supervise construction managers / supervisors and support personnel to ensure they’re meeting deliverables;
- Develop budgets as part of the managing team.
- Establish, maintain an effective stakeholder network to clearly inform pears, Construction Managers, functional managers and project managers of status concern and issues by regular correspondence.
- Lead construction HSE&SR including leading and lagging requirements / indicators for both greenfield and brownfield construction environments.
- Establish, maintain an effective communication with subordinate staff on priorities, objectives, and relevant issues. Understand roles and responsibilities of all stakeholders that affect projects.
- Accountable for overall construction reporting including, the General Manager level.
- Responsible to manage interface with on-site stakeholders such as Operations
- Preparation and stewardship of construction staffing plan organization which includes times sheets
- Maintain alignment with E&C Functional Requirements
- Develop contracting strategies and assist with RFP / Contract content
- Interface with various teams – Project Managers
- Keep contractors and internal resources accountable for delivery;
- Support in the hiring of subordinate staff
- Ensure alignment within Project Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Quality, HSE&SR, Project Controls, IT, Project Information Management, Finance and Human Resources
- Ensure consistency in processes across multiple projects
- Support the development of CEPs for individual projects
SKILL/ KNOWLEDGE:
- >20 years of experience working on sustaining capital to Mega Projects;
- Experience in negotiating a variety of contracting strategies with construction contracting firms;
- Able to influence internal stakeholders to meet project deliverables;
- Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction technology, equipment, constructability methods and the implementation of Workface Planning
- A complete understanding of the industrial industries general policies, procedures and standards
- Working knowledge of union jurisdiction, labor agreements and negotiations is essential
- Excellent communication, organizational, supervisory and planning skills required.
