Your opportunity:
I&ITS is a high-volume service delivery operation, processing over 15,000 incident, change, and service requests annually, and is the primary support for the teaching, learning, and research mission at UTM. As the Web Developer, you will join the Datacenter Operations team, responsible for maintaining the services and infrastructure housed in the UTM datacenters. The scope of responsibilities of the Datacenter Operations team includes enterprise storage, high-performance computing, as well as a heterogeneous environment of physical and virtual servers. You will apply your unique expertise to achieving the vision of the team to ensure these services are solid, speedy, and secure.

Your responsibilities will include:
Creating, customizing and maintaining open source web applications.
Analyzing user needs and business processes to create programming solutions.
Evaluating code to ensure it has validity, compatibility, and that it meets appropriate standards.
Monitoring the performance, integrity and security of applications.
Troubleshooting complex problems.
Analyzing server and application performance data.
Creating complex and technical documentation and user support guides.
Providing detailed analysis and recommendations on the suitability of major new technology and software systems.

Qualifications:
Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or an acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
Minimum 2 years administering and developing on Drupal CMS 7 and 8.
Minimum four years relevant experience including experience with database design, implementation and management (MySQL) and experience working with multi-server, enterprise-level web infrastructures.
Expert knowledge of modern web development frameworks including but not limited to PHP, HTML5, CSS/SASS/SCSS, JavaScript/JQuery and strong knowledge of accessible web design practices.
Working knowledge of shell scripting and CLI tools.
Working knowledge of programming to APIs.
Knowledge of current AODA and ability to apply standards to existing code.
Must be proficient in theming and customizing Drupal 7 and 8 instances. Must have expertise in current web design trends and practices and persistent web-database integration.
Understanding of Software Development Life Cycles, system and application security hardening, vulnerability assessment, enterprise patch management in a production environment.
Demonstrated proficiency using git.
Skilled in working with legacy code and incrementally upgrade using progressive enhancement principles.
Strong communications skills, with the ability to communicate professionally and efficiently both verbally and in writing.
Strong analytical, problem solving, and time management skills to permit simultaneous action on many tasks, many of which will demand timely completion.
Strong project management and team leadership skills.

Assets (Nonessential):
Experience in a Drupal 7 multisite environment.
Experience migrating websites from Drupal 7 to Drupal 8.
Experience with search engine optimization principles.
Experience with Gulp.js or other task runners.
Familiarity with Continuous Development principles.
Knowledge of Shibboleth and other authentication protocols.
ITIL foundations level (or higher) certification.
Experience working in a structured change management environment (CAB or equivalent body).

Pay Scale Group and Hiring Rate: USW Pay Band 12 - $69,730 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $89,172. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
