Server - New Italian Restaurant | Yonge & St. Clair | Now Hiring |
About Us
A new Italian restaurant is opening at Yonge and St. Clair this fall. The room seats guests over two levels and serves both lunch and dinner, and it is backed by an established Toronto restaurant group with a long record in Italian hospitality.
The food is Italian home cooking done properly — simple, seasonal, approachable dishes built on quality ingredients and real technique. The drinks list is built around Italian wine, aperitivi and amari, alongside a serious espresso program.
Hospitality here is about honesty, and it should come from the heart. We greet every guest warmly and genuinely, we take the time to understand who is in front of us, and we communicate constantly, so that a table is looked after by the whole team rather than by one person working alone. In everything we do, the guest has the right of way.
We are hiring the entire front of house team ahead of opening. Everyone joining now joins the opening team: you will help set the standards rather than inherit them, and you will be trained on them properly before the first guest walks in.
The Role
The Server is the guest's primary point of contact, and the person most responsible for how a meal is remembered. That means a great deal more than taking orders: you will know the menu in depth, guide guests through a shared Italian table, execute our service standards precisely, and do all of it with genuine warmth.
Lunch and dinner run to different rhythms here, and you will be trained on both.
What You Will Do
- Greet every table warmly and promptly, and find out whether they have dined with us before.
- Guide guests through the menu, and recommend what suits the table rather than what lifts the bill.
- Ask about allergies and dietary restrictions at every table, and communicate them to the Manager on Duty, the kitchen and the support staff.
- Pace the meal to the table — read whether your guests are relaxed or working to a clock, and adjust.
- Serve wine to standard: presentation, opening, the tasting pour, and topping up through the meal.
- Maintain your section throughout — settings, folds, crumbing, water and clean lines.
- Handle payment accurately, and close the table as warmly as you opened it.
- Complete opening, running and closing side duties, and support the team wherever you are needed.
What We Are Looking For
- Minimum two years of serving experience in a full-service restaurant; upscale or Italian experience preferred.
- Demonstrated interest in food and wine, and a genuine willingness to learn more.
- Smart Serve certification required prior to first shift; Food Handler certification an asset.
- Comfortable with POS systems.
- Strong English communication skills; additional languages, particularly Italian, are an asset.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
Hours and Conditions
Evening, weekend and holiday availability required. Continuous standing and walking for the length of a shift, frequent stairs between levels, and the ability to carry trays and lift up to 30 lbs.
What We Offer
Hourly wage as per Ontario minimum wage legislation, plus participation in the gratuity pool as per restaurant policy. A structured eight-day training path covering the menu, the wine list, both services and the standards, before you take a section of your own.

We provide employment opportunities on the basis of qualifications, skills and abilities, and we make reasonable accommodation for qualified individuals with known disabilities in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and the AODA.
