Job Overview
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is seeking a result driven Plant Engineer to join our Renewable Generation team in the role of Plant Engineer/Officer at our Pickering, ON location.
Reporting to the Manager of Equipment Reliability, the Plant Engineer/Officer will support monitoring and oversight of the equipment reliability program for our hydroelectric generating stations located across Ontario.
This role ensures that the RG ER program maintains high quality standards, meets industry requirements, and operates efficiently in preventing equipment failures. To excel in this role, we are looking for an individual who is not only passionate about their work and the equipment, but also possesses a questioning attitude and is driven to achieve excellence. Strong teamwork and leadership skills are essential, as you will be working closely with multidisciplinary, cross-functional teams to achieve results.

Key Accountabilities
- Provide oversight and direction for equipment reliability of hydropower generation assets - both electrical and mechanical assets.
- Provide input into asset management procedures and programs that affect equipment reliability.
- Access AS9, create database queries, export data.
- Create reports and trends using Power Bl..
- Perform condition and risk assessments and provide recommendations with respect to life cycle management of infrastructure.
- Provide input to business plans, work plans, budgets with respect to project priorities, schedules, and resource requirements.
- Influence and collaborate with stakeholders across Enterprise Engineering and Operations, consultants, contractors, and government agencies as required.
- As a technical expert provide advice, guidance, consultation, and services for engineering problems including equipment failure and unsatisfactory equipment performance. You may also be required to conduct field investigations, preparation of reports, and recommend actions.
- Develop plans, standards and technical procedures for inspection, maintenance, and monitoring programs.
- Define and oversee maintenance strategy implementation across multidisciplinary systems, participate in cross-functional challenge and oversight meetings on equipment performance, etc
Education
- 4-year university degree in Engineering (data analytics, computer science, and coding skills are an asset)
Qualifications
- Experience working in an engineering environment is preferred.
- Working knowledge of Hydroelectric Generating Equipment is preferred.
- Experience with equipment reliability programs execution and/or oversight
- Experience with Data Collection and Analytics in an industrial environment
- Experience working with large complex databases using modern software tools and methodologies.
- Experience working in a Utilities organization.
- Experience with planning and conducting assessments and studies
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work equally well independently or within a team environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication including report writing.
- Willingness to travel 10% of time.
- Valid Class G Ontario driving license (or equivalent) in good standing.
