Job Title: Unit Clerk

The Unit Clerk is responsible for patient registration, reception, transcribing Doctors' orders, booking tests, maintaining supplies, replacing sick time calls, EZ schedule maintenance and other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Medical Office Administration Diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Proven knowledge of medical terminology (tested);
- Proven knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel (tested - basic level);
- Proven keyboarding skills of 30 wpm (tested);
- Proven ability to transcribe Doctor's orders;
- Knowledge of EZ schedule an asset;
- Evidence of sound organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to work well in stressful situations;
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, documentation skills with the ability to work well with patients, families, all levels of staff and the community;
- Demonstrates a commitment to ongoing education and learning;

- Must have a satisfactory performance record;
- Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public;

- Demonstrated pattern of good attendance and work record.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E Local 6364.
Successful External applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months.
