Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Grain Cart Operator to join our agricultural team. The job will start late Aug and continue until late October, give or take, depending upon weather.
This vital role involves operating heavy farm machinery to efficiently transport and unload grain, supporting the overall productivity of our farming operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, experience with farm machinery, and the ability to perform maintenance tasks. Responsibilities
- Operate grain carts and other related heavy equipment safely and efficiently during harvest season
- Load, transport, and unload grain from fields to storage facilities or trucks
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on farm machinery using hand tools, power tools, and basic troubleshooting skills
- Conduct safety checks before operating equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards
- Maintain accurate records of grain movement and equipment usage
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate tasks and optimize workflow during busy harvest periods
Requirements
- Proven experience operating heavy farm machinery such as grain carts, combines, or other large equipment
- Mechanical knowledge with the ability to perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting
- Strong understanding of farm safety protocols and proper use of hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment
- Basic math skills for measuring quantities and recording data accurately
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record preferred
- Ability to work long hours during peak harvest times in various weather conditions
