Overview
The Heavy General Labourer operates the console that controls automatic palletizing equipment to sort, transfer, and stack on pallet containers of finished products by performing the following duties.
The key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Read production and delivery schedules and stacking pattern to determine sorting and transfer procedures, arrangement of packages on pallet, and destination of loaded pallet.
- Stop equipment to clear jams.
- Inform supervisor of equipment malfunction.
- Follow HACCP Procedures. Complete all forms and records as set out by HACCP – TROPHY Foods Inc.
- Clean and maintain work area; equipment, floor, tools, etc. at change over, at end of shift or as required to maintain standards according to company’s GMP’s, Sanitation procedures and frequency.
- Comply with the company’s health and safety policies and procedures, including wearing of PPE, GHS (WHMIS 2015), Lockout, etc.
- Other duties, responsibilities, and tasks as assigned by a Supervisor or Management.
Experience & Educational Requirements
- Less than high school education or:
- Up to one month related experience or training or:
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
Physical Effort
- Almost continuously engaged in one or more physical activities simultaneously
o Eg. Walking, lifting and carrying heavy objects that weigh 25kg, reaching with hands and arms.
- Frequent requirement to lift heavy objects over the shoulder level, see different colours, use hands and fingers to touch, handle, or feel and to push and pull product in a packaging line.
Work Environment
- Constant exposure to noise levels over 85dB, airborne particles, vibrations, and humidity.
- There is regular exposure to moving parts which may carry an extreme risk or accident or illness which cannot be eliminated from the job.
Sensory Attention
- Frequent need to give concentrated attention, with one or two senses (talk, listen, read) used in co-ordination to ensure the product is prepared according to schedule.
- Ability to apply common sense to problems involving mathematical skills (such as adding, subtracting, multiplication, and dividing), computer techniques, and written or oral instructions.
- Ability to carry out simple step-by-step instructions.
Mental Stress
- Work and environment are very repetitious/unchanging.
- There is noticeable pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy or similar demands.
- Bullying or harassment in any form will not be tolerated. Speak with a supervisor if the work or the environment is causing mental stress.
