Flexcell Engineering Inc. is a multidisciplinary engineering firm involved in civil, structural, electrical, mechanical, and environmental projects across Ontario and beyond. Our work spans both the public and private sectors and includes land development, municipal infrastructure, drainage and culvert design, and design-build projects. We are a small, hands-on team. Our projects move quickly, and our team members are expected to take ownership of their work, contribute across disciplines, and be involved from design through to construction. Our work is completed across Ontario and includes both office and field-based assignments. We are currently looking for a Civil Engineering Technologist (Design, Coordination & Inspection) who is comfortable working in this type of environment and is looking to take on a role that includes design, project coordination/management, and field inspection responsibilities.
What you’ll need:
- CET designation (MANDATORY)
- Minimum ~2+ years of relevant experience
- Extremely proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and 2D drafting (independent production-level)
- Strong experience with cut/fill plans, erosion & sediment control (ESC) plans, site plans, and linear infrastructure (storm and sanitary design)
- Experience with culvert design and drainage infrastructure
- Solid understanding of hydrology, hydraulics, and civil construction practices
- Ability to take basic engineering guidance and develop complete drawing packages for review
- Comfortable assisting with drafting of structural layouts and building-related drawings (guidance provided as required)
- Valid G driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle (KM reimbursed)
- Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate with internal staff, clients, and subconsultants
- Able to work independently with limited guidance and take ownership of assigned tasks
- Willingness to learn and take on responsibilities outside of core drafting tasks
What the role involves:
- Preparing and completing civil design drawings including grading, servicing, ESC, site plans, and drainage works
- Working on a range of projects including road rehabilitation, culvert design and drainage works, land development, and civil/structural coordination projects
- Assisting with drafting of structural layouts and building-related drawings where required (with engineering support)
- Supporting and taking ownership of project coordination and light project management tasks, including:
- Coordinating with engineers, subconsultants, and clients
- Tracking project progress and deliverables
- Assisting with scheduling and general project organization
- Attending site for inspections, sampling support, and field verification of designs
- Assisting with construction and contract administration activities as required
- Working with engineers to finalize drawings for review, revisions, and issuance
Work environment:
- Mix of office, remote work, and field work depending on project requirements
- Work-from-home is supported for office tasks; however, candidates must have their own computer capable of running Civil 3D (logins and access will be provided)
- This is a small team environment where individuals are expected to contribute across multiple aspects of a project
- Occasion travel across Ontario may be required for project work, including overnight stays where necessary (company-covered accommodations).

Assets:
- Experience with survey equipment and field data collection
- Cross-discipline experience (civil–structural or civil–environmental)
- Familiarity with Ontario municipal standards, approvals, and permitting processes
- Previous experience with project coordination or project management tasks
Compensation:
$32.00 – $42.00 per hour, depending on experience and demonstrated capability
KM reimbursement provided for site travel
Location:
Candidates must be located in Ontario, Canada and able to travel to project sites as required. Preference will be given to candidates located within the GTA, Simcoe-Muskoka, or Kawartha Lakes regions; however, this is not a strict requirement provided project and site responsibilities can be met.
Pay: $32.00-$42.00 per hour
