On-Track Railway Operations is a Material handling company who have been proudly serving the railway industry for over 30 years. Located 20 minutes Northeast of Edmonton in Sturgeon County just off of Highway 37.
We are currently looking for a Journeyman, 2nd,3rd,4th yr Heavy Duty Technician/apprentice's for full-time employment in our Sturgeon County shop and occasional field work sites across Western Canada
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follow all safety and Environmental rules and procedures
- Carry out equipment inspections as per our preventative maintenance schedules
- Review and carry out repairs as per operator’s note’s in equipment and driver logbooks
- Be proficient in the Use of diagnostic scan tools Diagnose system faults and codes
- Diagnose and repair engines, transmissions, clutches, gearboxes, cooling systems, electrical systems, pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, exhaust, brakes, suspension, etc. on a variety of Rail car moving equipment, construction equipment, heavy-duty and light-duty trucks
- Work with Shop Foreman and field Supervisor’s to discuss equipment repairs and prioritize Deadlines as required.
- Complete all necessary administrative paperwork such as inspection forms, work orders, parts/inventory requisition forms and equipment logbooks
- Actively take part in weekly safety meetings
- Maintain a clean work environment
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
- Good communication skills both verbal and written
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Sound understanding of safety regulations, safe work practices and work procedures
- Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong stress management and time management skills
- Perform duties in inclement weather, with possible exposure to severe weather conditions
- Be able to stick to deadlines that yourself and supervisors agree to
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic (Red seal Preferred) or Registered Apprentice
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s license
- Previous railway experience is an asset but not required
- Willing to travel across Western Canada (Manitoba-British Columbia)
- Willing to work overtime
- Willing to work out of town for extended periods of time
- Organized and self-motivated
- Able to work in remote locations with limited resources
- Must be able to pass a Pre-employment Drug & Alcohol Test.
