We are currently looking to hire a Dispatcher/Customer Service Representative who will be responsible for dispatching daily deliveries that transport freight across North America, Pre-Planning, and Dispatch future loads based out of our Caledon office in Ontario.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and dispatch company drivers and equipment for scheduled pickups and deliveries.
- Communicate proactively with drivers throughout their trips to ensure efficient planning and on-time service.
- Monitor driver availability, hours of service, and trip schedules when planning assignments.
- Monitor the availability and status of tractors and trailers to ensure proper equipment is assigned to each load.
- Review and plan driver routes, pickup and delivery schedules, departure times, and destinations.
- Maintain accurate and timely updates in the company’s dispatch/fleet management system, including pickup, delivery, appointment, status, and delay information.
- Track loads and drivers throughout the trip and provide regular updates to customers and internal operations staff.
- Communicate with customers regarding pickup and delivery status, delays, appointment changes, and other service-related issues.
- Respond quickly to last-minute changes, including load reassignments, route changes, delivery changes, and driver instructions.
- Coordinate with drivers, customers, maintenance, safety, and operations to resolve issues that may affect service.
- Ensure drivers have the necessary information and instructions for each trip before departure.
- Assist with cross-border shipment coordination, including communication related to Ontario–U.S. pickups and deliveries.
- Maintain clear and professional communication with drivers, customers, and internal departments.
- Perform other duties related to dispatch and transportation operations as assigned by the Operations Manager or General Manager.
- Be available to work a few hours on Saturday or Sunday as part of the dispatch rotation.
Required Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in trucking or transportation dispatching is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian and U.S. transportation operations is an asset.
- Experience with cross-border transportation and Ontario–U.S. lanes is an asset.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
- Experience using transportation management, dispatch, GPS tracking, or fleet management software is an asset.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize work in a fast-paced transportation
Must have own vehicle to commute
Total Number of Hours: up to 45 Hrs. weekly
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
