Role
Reporting to the Health & Safety Field Manager, you will primarily be responsible for providing onsite safety assistance to construction builders, developers, subcontractors, trades, and industrial facilities throughout the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA) and surrounding regions.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Advise clients, including management, supervisors, and workers, on compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), applicable regulations, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct health and safety inspections on low-rise and high-rise construction projects, trade operations, and industrial facilities.
- Enforce OHSA requirements, regulations, and employer-specific safety standards.
- Develop, coordinate, and deliver health and safety training programs, including WHMIS, fire safety, workplace violence and harassment prevention, and health and safety programs.
- Ensure health and safety compliance for constructors, subcontractors, and trades.
- Conduct worker, trade, and subcontractor safety orientations.
- Facilitate safety meetings and toolbox talks on a variety of health and safety topics.
- Develop and distribute safety alerts, bulletins, and memos as required.
- Assist clients with the coordination and completion of Joint Health and Safety Committees (JHSCs) and Worker Trades Committees.
- Create customized traffic control plans in accordance with Construction Regulation 213/91 and municipal requirements.
- Develop and advise on site-specific safe work procedures (SWPs) and job hazard analyses (JHAs) for high-risk activities.
- Conduct incident investigations, including near misses, medical injuries, and critical injuries, and support the implementation of corrective actions.
- Liaise with Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD) representatives during site visits and ensure timely compliance with orders.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of health and safety management systems, including COR™ certification requirements.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Minimum 4 years of experience in construction and industrial health and safety.
- Minimum 1–2 years of consulting experience or experience in a related discipline preferred.
- Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety preferred.
- NCSO, CRSP, and/or CRST designation(s) considered an asset.
- Extensive knowledge of:
- Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA)
- Construction Projects Regulation (O. Reg. 213/91)
- Industrial Establishments Regulation (R.R.O. 1990, Reg. 851)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications.
- Experience using safety management software and reporting platforms such as SiteDocs, Procore, and time-tracking software.

- Comfortable spending extended periods walking and standing on active construction sites (5+ hours daily).
- Effective communicators who can interact professionally with workers, subcontractors, trades, clients, visitors, and vendors.
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and presentation abilities.
Additional Requirements
- Valid Ontario Class G driver's licence (or equivalent).
- Clean driving record.
- Ability to travel throughout the GTHA and surrounding regions.
Starting salary will be commensurate with experience and education.
