Hours of Work
24 hours bi-weekly (more hours may be required on occasion to meet operational demands)
The hours of work are Monday to Thursday 12:45–3:45pm excluding non-instructional days. Additional support hours may be needed during the morning session Monday to Thursday 9:00am-12:00pm.
Rate of Pay
$17.41 per hour (plus 14% in lieu of benefits)

Under the direct supervision of the Recreation Program Coordinator, and working alongside the Preschool Teacher, the Inclusion Support Assistant is directly responsible for facilitating and integrating a child with additional support needs into the Licensed Preschool program.
This position requires an acceptable criminal record check. The applicant/incumbent will be required to undergo a criminal record check in order to work in this position and to report to their supervisor if any criminal charges are laid against them that may be related to their employment in this position.
Duties & Responsibilities
Facilitate participation and adapt activities as required for a child requiring additional support
Encourage independence where appropriate and assist in developing child’s self confidence
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with parents, children, preschool instructor, preschool assistant, and supervisor
Responsible for completing any necessary written documentation of the child’s progress as part of their designated care plan
Promote and deliver safe, healthy, positive interactions, communications, diversity and learning opportunities
Promote and enhance creative ideas in all program areas such as arts & crafts, dramatic play, music appreciation, science and nature, and sports
Ensure the safety and general well-being of the supported child at all times
Problem solve minor issues independently, conferring with supervisor regarding progress concerns and recommendations
Follows all policies, procedures and standards of the CRD
Performs other related duties as required.
Current First Aid certificate
Completed 20 hours of a Responsible Adult (RA) course (or willingness to obtain before start date)
Experience working with children with disabilities or additional support needs
Experience working with preschool children in a licensed child care or recreation setting
At least 19 years of age
Demonstrated judgment, ability to problem solve and work independently
Ability to work as an effective team member
Communication and organizational skills
Experience with customer service and public relations
Ability to be creative and flexible to ensure a fun environment
Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships
Ability to provide a safe and healthy environment
