Summary of Responsibilities:
The Research Assistant I (RA) provides research support under the direct supervision of the Supervisor/Principal Investigator. The RA will be involved in each step of an innovative research project that will compare the efficacy of novel short repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) treatments for major depressive disorder. Time will be spent primarily delivering rTMS treatment, interviewing patients, liaising with clinical care team for referrals, organizing the treatment schedule, and helping with administrative duties of lab.

Recruitment of research participants.
Responsible for administration of rTMS treatment for major depression.
Responsible for administration of TMS and electroencephalography (EEG) recordings.
Responsible for conducting interviews to collect study participant data.
Assists in the modification and maintenance of electronic and paper data management systems.
Enters and verifies data collected, using databases and protocols set up by supervisors.
Must ensure quality of data through collection and analysis periods Liaise with research collaborators, research team members, Research Ethics Board staff, IMHR grants and finance staff, study sponsors and/or regulatory bodies
Assists to ensure compliance with scientific review and research ethics processes; completes relevant application forms and obtains required signatures, as needed.
Abides by established IMHR policies, procedures and objectives, as well as quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control requirements, for all aspects of field and laboratory operations.
Records, monitors, and signs for financial transactions, as authorized (e.g. participant reimbursement).
Assists supervisor in developing budgets and budget justifications consistent with grantor/contractor eligibility requirements and IMHR policies; liaises with IMHR Administration as necessary.
May assist in preparation of materials for presentation, publications or grants.
May assist in EEG data analysis.
May assist in development of Standard Operating Procedures for the rTMS platform.
Performs other or miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Undergraduate degree; Psychology or Neuroscience is preferable.
Minimum six months experience in a clinical/medical research environment is preferable.
Bilingual (French and English) is an asset.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Ability to communicate and interact competently and professionally at all levels within a broad, complex clinical research environment.
Highly motivated to work in a clinical-based research environment.
Knowledge and experience using statistical software (SPSS and/or R), Microsoft Office (Word; Excel; Power Point), and Windows-based operating system are an asset.
Programming skills in Matlab is an asset.
Skilled in organizing resources and establishing priorities
Basic knowledge of research principles, methodology, and procedures.
Basic knowledge of ICH Good Clinical Practices and relevant regulations, legislation and guidelines applicable to the clinical research field
Ability to follow data collection and management guidelines.
Able to work independently with minimal supervision and within a multidisciplinary team.
Meticulous, detail-oriented, and highly organized.
