Laborer - Shallow Utilities
DGC Contracting Inc. is a Spruce Grove, AB based utility construction company specializing in directional drilling, hydrovac and civil construction. We are looking to recruit candidates for several job positions available for telecommunication projects throughout Alberta. Projects are underway and permanent positions are available for the right candidates.
We are looking for people who can work safely and efficiently to install telecommunication infrastructure on both public and private property according to company and client specifications. Positions available include:
Telecommunications Laborer
Laborers will work to safely and efficiently install underground utilities on both public and private property excavating and restoring roadways, boulevards and landscaped areas as required. Operators must be able to work with directional drillers, equipment operators and supervisors to install utilities according to client specifications.
Candidates should be able to provide own transportation to and from DGC Contracting’s shop and/or jobsite locations and be able to work 8-12 hours a day, 6 days a week.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Using both hand tools and power tools such as tampers, saws, shovels, rakes, tampers, etc., to assist in directional drilling installations.
- Hand excavation of utilities.
- Participate in daily safety meetings, complete FLHA’s
- Ability to determine grade and install infrastructure to client specifications.
- Read locates for water, gas, and other underground services.
- Work to ensure safe equipment operating guidelines are met.
- Wear all Personal Protective Equipment as required by client, legislation or company policy.
Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license minimum Class 5, (preference for class 1 or 3) clean abstract, and own vehicle.
- Physically fit and able to bend, kneel, climb, and lift (up to 50 lbs).
- Experience working with shallow utility installations is preferred.
- Firm understanding of underground locates.
- Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
Position Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license minimum Class 5, (preference for class 1 or 3) clean abstract, and own vehicle.
- CSTS training certification
- Ground Disturbance Training (LVL2)
