KMC specializes in high-performance alloys and friction materials from raw materials to finished products under one roof in Orillia, Canada. Manufacturing unique heat-resistant alloys and high-nickel/chrome alloys primarily for the petrochemical industries, Kubota leads the industry in quality and advanced technology. As per customer requirements, Kubota designs and casts centrifugal pipes and static castings of fittings, which are then machined, welded (Automatic, Semi-Automatic, Orbital & Manual), GTAW, GMAW, SMAW, followed by in-house NDT (RT, PT, VT), in-house DT, R&D lab, as well as hydro testing.
Summary:
Reporting to the Supervisor of Maintenance, this position is responsible for performing all electrical maintenance functions on all equipment, installation of new equipment or electrical modifications in a safe, responsible and productive manner

Work in a safe manner consistent with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and KMC policies and ensure work areas comply with proper housekeeping and safety procedures at all times

Wear all required PPE as per department and job function requirements

Operate all equipment and machinery according to established safety rules, SOPs, and at set standard rates

Maintain full product traceability as per ISO and department standards

The safe operation of all electrical and/or mechanical equipment is required for the maintenance of machines and equipment

Advises the Supervisor of defective or unsafe parts for replacement without delay

Be aware and knowledgeable in safe material handling techniques and be conversant in the safe operation of material handling equipment

Must be able to read and interpret Electrical drawings, Maintenance Manuals and Bills of Material (BOM) for any machine or equipment; must have the ability to identify the required part or parts needed to repair the machine for ordering purposes

Must be familiar with all relevant Electrical Codes and revisions to these codes when received, to perform all electrical operations to a high quality standard capable of being approved by a Licensed Electrical Inspector if and when required

The incumbent, working with little or no supervision, must have the ability to repair all machines and equipment they are assigned to by identifying the defective part or parts, repairing or identifying them for replacement as applicable and returning the machine or equipment to service in a productive manner and to ISO standards

In conjunction with items above, the Electrician #1 must be able to identify the cause of the problem and either modify the equipment or make recommendations to avoid further breakdowns for the same reasons

Must have the ability to improve when routine procedures are not adequate due to production needs or demands, or where the replacement part is not readily available without compromising any safety aspect

Minimum Grade 12 and/or 442A Industrial Electrical License or equivalent education

At least 3 years of working experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment as an electrician
-
Health and Safety (WHMIS, Crane Operating, working at Heights, Confined Spaces, etc.) Training Certificates would be considered an asset

Demonstrated ability to operate a variety of tools and equipment, including measuring devices and power tools, and testing equipment, including oscilloscopes, ammeters, or test lamps

Demonstrated ability to work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain, and make necessary repairs following all safety policies

Demonstrated ability to predict when improvements are required on routine procedures due to production needs or demands
-
Demonstrated ability in reading and interpreting Electrical drawings, Maintenance Manuals and Bills of Material for any machine or equipment
Physical / Psychological Demands & Working Conditions:

Standing and walking for prolonged periods

Manual dexterity for handling small parts and tools

Lifting and moving equipment/materials (up to 25-50 lbs)

Visual acuity for reading blueprints and inspecting parts

Exposure to noise, dust, and fluctuating temperatures (requires PPE)

High levels of concentration and focus

Rotating shift work of days, afternoons and overnights on a two-week rotation
