Job Summary
The Marda Loop Communities Association (MLCA) is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Swim Instructor to join our 2026/2027 Swim Club Program. This position involves coaching and mentoring swimmers aged 8 to 17 years in a supportive, fun, and skill-focused environment. Join our vibrant team and inspire swimmers achieve their aquatic goals! Duties
- Lead structured swimming lessons tailored to different age groups and skill levels, ensuring clear instruction and positive reinforcement
- Demonstrate proper swimming techniques, safety procedures, and water safety skills to participants
- Monitor swimmers closely during lessons to ensure safety, providing immediate assistance when needed
- Create a fun, energetic atmosphere that encourages participation, confidence-building, and skill development
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pool area, ensuring all equipment is safe and properly stored
- Communicate effectively with parents or guardians regarding progress, safety tips, and upcoming classes
- Enforce facility rules and safety policies consistently to uphold a secure environment for all swimmers
- Work collaboratively with the Swim Club Coach
Requirements
- Proven experience in teaching swimming or related water instruction roles
- Strong knowledge of swimming techniques, water safety standards, and rescue procedures
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate learners of diverse ages and backgrounds
- Ability to demonstrate patience, enthusiasm, and professionalism in all interactions
- Certification in lifeguarding or water safety instruction (preferred but not mandatory)
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as needed
- Physical stamina to perform water-based activities and assist swimmers in various situations
- Standard First Aid or equivalent CPR-C Certification
- Current Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check
Work Schedule
Every Monday, 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM. Program runs September 14, 2026 to May 1, 2027.
Compensation
$45 per 1.5-hour instructional session.
