NATURE AND SCOPE OF WORK
Reporting to MDG’s Senior Project Manager, the Project Manager is responsible to ensure the day-to-day operations of MDG’s Vertical Construction projects are adequately and properly managed. He or she, with direction from the Senior Project Manager or at times from the Construction Manager, manages project execution plans to ensure the project’s vitality and success criteria are maintained throughout and in accordance with MDG’s project proformas.
The Project Manager is also responsible for fostering and developing owner, consultant, third party, general contractor, and tenant relationships during their duties.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collect and organize inputs to confirm the project’s high-level objectives and success criteria are identified and managed.
- Participate in project charrettes, design development and scope development meetings.
- Contribute to creating project budgets and contribute inputs to financial model as directed.
- Contribute to project execution and participating in schematic design for future development projects. Ensure that projects are built according to high-level objectives, success criteria.
- Collect and organize all tenant requirements from pre-leasing program to confirm Landlord obligations and for inclusion into built form.
- Monitor development and construction schedules to meet anticipated milestones.
- Monitor Tenant contractor’s progress during fixturing period, recommend corrective action(s) to meet commencement date milestone(s) as required.
- Attend all project meetings with internal and external Stakeholders to monitor support the project’s development & constructions schedules; recommend corrective action as required.
- Work with project team to manage opportunities and risks to minimize impacts to schedule and financial targets.
- Monitor and control project costs including cost to complete, change order management and verifying earned values.
- Contribute to RFP preparation and selection for Consultants / General Contractors / Suppliers etc.
- Manage all close-out requirements on projects.
- Performs other related duties as directed by the Senior Project Manager or Construction Manager.
- If assigned a Project Coordinator, ensure the PC is supported and able to complete their duties and responsibilities for all aspects of MDG’s vertical construction and retail projects.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
- Strong understanding of Construction Management processes and construction methodologies, specifications, and costing.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to efficiently multi-task
- Critical thinker able to interpret information and understand issues.
- Ability to make recommendations on a variety of levels of complexity, ambiguity and risk.
- Can define tasks and milestones to achieve objectives while ensuring optimal use of resources.

- Can forecast, avoid, mitigate and manage risk.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of 5 - 8 years of related work experience is required with responsibilities for managing complex residential projects or mixed-use projects.
- Previous land development or owner’s representative experience is an asset.
- Post-secondary education in Construction Engineering Technology or related discipline is an asset.
