DJR Inc. operates two of King West's most distinctive concepts under one roof at 488 Wellington Street West, and we're hiring one talented Chef de Cuisine to lead the culinary program across both.
Cherry's High Dive is the neighbourhood hangout done right — a retro, vintage-inspired room built around tavern-style bar pies, shareable plates, and comfort favourites. Goodnight Cocktail Club sits just below: an intimate speakeasy with a smaller, refined food program designed to complement a serious cocktail list. The role asks for range — a perfect bar pie upstairs and thoughtful, cocktail-friendly bites downstairs, all to a consistent, high standard.
What you'll do
- Direct all kitchen operations across both venues, leading from the line during peak service
- Develop and evolve menus for both concepts; keep them seasonal and cost-effective
- Hire, train, schedule, and evaluate kitchen staff; build a positive kitchen culture
- Manage purchasing, inventory, and supplier relationships; hit food-cost targets
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations
- Maintain kitchen records and collaborate with front of house, bar, and events
What we're looking for
- Proven experience as a Chef de Cuisine, a Sous Chef ready to step up, or comparable senior kitchen leadership
- Range across casual and elevated cooking
- Strong leadership, food costing, and inventory skills
- Knowledge of Ontario health and safety standards; Food Handler certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Calm and consistent under a busy King West service
Compensation is $80,000–$85,000 annually, including our benefits program, with a six-month probationary period and review. DJR Inc. is an equal-opportunity employer.
