Job Title: Junior Accountant

We are a dynamic accounting firm dedicated to providing comprehensive services in bookkeeping, accounting, tax planning, and consultation. We serve a diverse clientele, including small to medium-sized businesses, partnerships, individuals, non-residents, trusts, and estates. We are seeking a motivated Junior Accountant to join our team and contribute to our clients’ success. This job requires an onsite presence with no remote work options.
Key Responsibilities:
Compilation Engagements: With minimal guidance, complete a variety of compilation engagements, including planning, working papers, reconciliations, adjusting entries, financial information statements, letters, checklists, documentation, referencing, completion, and file closure.
Tax returns: Prepare various personal tax returns, goods and sales tax returns, partnership tax returns, corporate tax returns, trust tax returns, non-profit organization, and charitable tax returns. Tax return preparation can also include supplemental tax filings for foreign property and information on foreign affiliates.
Tax Slips: Preparation of tax slips including T3s, T4s, T4As, T5s, and T5018s.
Bookkeeping: Independently be able to deliver a full suite of bookkeeping services including entering transactions within various subledger, and a preparing account reconciliation (bank and credit card reconciliations). Must also be able to use QuickBooks desktop and online version and be able to adapt and use reporting functions of other off the shelf bookkeeping applications.
Account Reconciliations: Prepare various account reconciliations including corporate/provincial tax installments, GST, payroll and source deductions, and shareholders’ loan accounts.
Financial Analysis: Analyze financial information in CaseWare and prepare adjusting entries.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
Experience: 3 years of work experience in public accounting or within a small to medium-sized business is an asset.
Technical Skills: High proficiency in CaseWare, Jazz.it, Profile or other tax preparation software, MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams), and be able to navigate major off the shelf bookkeeping programs.
Communication: Excellent attention to detail, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Problem-Solving: Ability to detect and solve problems with sound judgment regarding confidential information and sensitive matters.
Professionalism: Strong work ethic and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Client Focus: Understanding of a client-focused, fast-paced work environment, including related deadlines and the ability to consistently meet those deadlines.
Adaptability: Ability to accept and apply feedback to future engagements.
