Job Description
Provide financial leadership, and subject matter advice to Air Canada Cargo in the ongoing management of their business activities including Planning, Budgeting, Forecasting and Cost Transformation.
Support the expansion of the Cargo Business in the strategic areas of Freighters, eCommerce, Drones, Digital evolution and major Cargo facility investments and improvements.
Develop and implement Financial Performance Indicators for better understanding of the cause-and-effect relationship of costs and to assure the efficiency and the performance of the branch. Work with Cargo management to develop and implement strategies to improve financial performance.
Develop and report on Cargo sector profitability analysis and planning. Identify and work with Cargo management to improve Cargo profitability.
Liaison with YWG Revenue Accounting team, including billing adjustments and accounts receivable.
Working with branch head and senior management, develop annual business plan and budget, 3-to-5-year long range business plans with focus on cost transformation to meet corporate goals and financial plans.
Deliver value added service to internal customers by identifying, and evaluating profitability enhancing opportunities and strategies, internal process changes and new cost savings opportunities.
Lead and coach team to foster professional development and maximize value delivery to the Cargo Business. Build strong management team and plan for succession.
Train and support managers and subordinates in execution and delivery of financial goals and alignment with organization priorities.
Develop and manage effective working relationships with executives, branch head, senior management, and strategic partners. Ensure buy-in of solutions and changes in processes and strategy.
Effectively communicate business unit financial results and provide overview of the Corporation financial situation.
Monitor and analyze financial performance of business units against plan and forecast and ensure corrective actions are undertaken as required; perform post-evaluations of projects/programs as appropriate to assess actual versus target results.
Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of activities/issues/trends pertaining to the Airline and Cargo industry.
Lead financial evaluations and participate in major contract renewals with a focus on obtaining all possible cost savings - look for savings beyond the RFP; challenge the accepted norm that any saving is satisfactory.
Qualifications
Undergraduate or Graduate degree in Business or Finance is a pre-requisite
Accounting and/or business designation (CPA, MBA, CFA) is a requirement.
Minimum of 10 years experience in financial planning and control.
Logistics and Airline experience is an asset.
Strong business sense and judgmental capabilities
Excellent communication, negotiation, analytical skills required.
Proven leadership qualities, credibility, and strong sense of initiative
Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively in team environment
Excellent ability to communicate at an Executive level in both verbal and written formats for presentation, analytical and report generation purposes
Solid work ethics, high degree of energy and dedication
Strong leadership, people management and coaching / mentoring skills
Demonstrated organization skills to handle multiple projects, ability to shift priorities and work under pressure
Very proficient on Excel, PowerPoint, Access and experience working with financial software/applications.
