This role is full time, permanent and reports to the Development Manager in our Toronto office.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
1. Leadership – Achieve objectives through the coordination and development of the backend team.
- Be accountable for leading the backend team through daily activities; provide direction and follow up to ensure the team meets its deliverables.
- Ensure team compliance with StoreForce coding standards, process, and industry standard best practices.
- Provide ongoing guidance and direction for the backend development team, emphasizing modernization of architecture.
- Train and ensure ongoing development through performance management programs.
2. Development – Deliver high quality software solutions leveraging SQL Server, .NET, .NET Core, and Azure-specific technologies.
- Complete programming of assigned software components for on-time delivery; development projects will include .NET and .NET Core applications.
- Participate in development discussions to collaborate on architecture, functionality, and API design for a more distributed system.
- Conduct testing on assigned components, with an emphasis on API-first development, and improving overall system reliability.
- Maintain technical documentation as required, particularly focusing on documenting the transition of business logic from stored procedures to the middle tier.
3. Issues Resolution – Demonstrate urgency in ensuring resolution of issues.
- Collaborate with the team to resolve issues; maintain open communication and provide updates.
- Troubleshoot issues, document findings and resolution, with an aim to eliminate reliance on stored procedures and enhance system robustness.
EXPERIENCE
You will be able to demonstrate your experience through your educational background and / or employment history.
- Minimum 6 years of backend development experience using SQL Server, .NET, and .NET Core.
- Experience in a leadership role, including mentoring junior developers, guiding architectural decisions, and managing project deliverables.
- Experience in modernizing legacy architectures, specifically transitioning business logic out of stored procedures.
- Experience in performance optimization strategies for high-traffic applications
- Familiarity with Azure technologies is a plus.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and best practices is a plus
