About the job:
Kent is looking for an Intermediate Piping Designer to join our Design & Drafting team in Calgary, Alberta. This position will be supporting a variety of industrial projects across the energy sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and coordinating piping design deliverables while working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams and clients. The role requires technical design capabilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple project priorities within a collaborative team environment. This position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects while collaborating with experienced designers and engineers across multiple Kent offices.
Skills and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:

Prepare piping layouts, 3D models, and detailed design drawings for industrial projects.

Develop piping isometrics, general arrangement drawings, plot plans, and supporting design documentation.

Coordinate piping designs with structural, mechanical, civil, electrical, instrumentation, and process disciplines.

Participate in design reviews, model reviews, and interdisciplinary coordination meetings.

Ensure designs comply with project specifications, applicable codes, client standards, and industry best practices.

Review vendor drawings and incorporate vendor information into project deliverables.
-
Support field activities by responding to construction queries and participating in site visits as required.

Maintain project documentation and ensure deliverables are completed in accordance with project schedules and quality requirements.

Communicate effectively with clients and internal project teams throughout project execution.

Identify design issues and work collaboratively to develop practical solutions.

Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to maintaining high-quality design standards.

Your knowledge/skills, education and experience:
Knowledge/Qualifications/Training/Certification:

Diploma in Engineering Design, Drafting Technology, or a related technical discipline.

Several years of piping design experience within the oil & gas, petrochemical, energy, or industrial sectors.

Proficiency with industry-standard 3D design software such as AutoCAD Plant 3D, CADWorx, SmartPlant 3D (SP3D), E3D, S3D or similar platforms.

Strong understanding of piping layouts, fabrication drawings, and industrial design practices.

Experience interpreting P&IDs, engineering drawings, and project specifications.

Familiarity with applicable industry codes and standards.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Valid driver's license.

Must be able to travel to client sites by air when required.
