KPMG and United Cities have established a new partnership and program, Step Up Now, that will evaluate cities and local governments on their performance in achieving net-zero targets and SDGs. United Cities has a defined methodology to evaluate city and local government performance based on 200+ KPIs that are United Nations certified. KPMG is working with United Cities to develop an implementation toolkit and defined set of solutions for achieving the net-zero targets and SDGs.
Step Up Now is in contact with 20 pilot cities globally on conducting the evaluation for achieving their net-zero targets and SDG objectives. These near term opportunities include Quebec City (Canada), Bogota (Colombia), Limerick (Ireland), Lisbon (Portugal), Reykjavík (Iceland), Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), Singapore, Multiple cities (Ghana), Nairobi (Kenya), Bucharest (Romania) and Beirut (Lebanon).
The role focus on the development of program materials and support the global project management office for the Step Up Now program. More specifically, the role will include:
Manage a team of professionals in the coordination and delivery of engagement field work, including the preparation of proposals, deliverables, analysis and documentation, presentation to clients and engagement economics.
Support clients with the analysis and implementation of Step Up Now projects.
Identify opportunities to expand the Step Up Now partnership with United Cities to solve client's complex business problems.
Manage engagement teams, including work plan management, budget management, staff management and client interaction.
Work closely with the global network to develop team capacity and capability.
Facilitate client meetings and workshops.
Support business development globally and nationally within the practice, in both public and private sector markets including:
Work with national practices to develop business regionally and nationally within the practice in both public and private sector markets.
Manage and actively participate in responding to Requests for Proposal for advisory mandates related to smart sustainable city projects.
Build KPMG’s profile within the market through industry involvement, contribution to internal and external publications, and presentation at conferences and industry events.
Lead the Step Up Now global project management office and provide secretarial support to the Step Up Now Steeting Committee.

What you bring to this role:
Technical Skills & Qualifications
Solid business acumen, including financial literacy and ability to translate complex data and information into meaningful insights.
Written and oral communication skills to present and synthesize key information
Business Development experience in addition to project management experience are required assets.
Attention to detail and ability to analyze contract documents, project reports, and synthesize report findings into forward looking recommendations for project performance improvement.
Must be able to travel within Canada, United States and internationally due to our diverse client base.
Experience & Knowledge
6+ years of overall experience, with public sector involvement in infrastructure, municipal services or public sector transfomations.
Preference would be given to candidates with 2+ years of experience working with or across the KPMG global network.
Undergraduate degree in business administration, architecture, planning or similar technical degree
Exceptional leadership skills and ability to supervise and mentor a team of managers and consultants to deliver consulting engagements.
