Dragan Technologies Inc. (DTI) is a Canadian engineering and manufacturing company specializing in industrial automation, electronic controls, embedded systems, wireless technologies, and mining equipment solutions. We develop custom electronic systems for OEMs serving the mining and heavy equipment industries.
We are seeking an experienced engineer or engineering consultant to assist with the certification and regulatory approval of an innovative wireless safety barrier system intended for underground and surface mining drills.
Project Overview
The project involves a wireless personnel detection barrier designed to prevent machinery operation whenever personnel enter a designated hazardous area. The system uses wireless communication between field devices and machine controls while maintaining fail-safe operation suitable for harsh mining environments.
The successful candidate will guide the project from engineering review through certification and regulatory acceptance.
Responsibilities
- Review the existing system architecture and hardware design.
- Perform a functional safety assessment.
- Conduct risk assessment and hazard analysis.
- Develop safety requirements and safety documentation.
- Recommend modifications necessary to achieve certification.
- Prepare documentation required by certification agencies.
- Liaise with testing laboratories and regulatory organizations.
- Support product testing and validation.
- Assist in obtaining approval for use within Canadian mining operations, including Ontario applications where applicable.
- Work closely with DTI engineering staff throughout the certification process.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) licensed in Canada (Ontario or Manitoba preferred).
- 10+ years of experience with industrial machinery safety.
- Experience with mining equipment.
- Experience with machine control systems.
- Experience with wireless industrial control systems.
- Knowledge of functional safety principles.
- Familiarity with standards such as:
- ISO 13849-1
- IEC 62061
- IEC 61508
- CSA M421
- Applicable mining regulations in Canada.
- Experience working with certification organizations (CSA, UL, Intertek, TÜV, etc.) is highly desirable.

Compensation
Negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
Pay: $69,426.11-$139,418.35 per year
