We are looking for a technically minded individual who enjoys troubleshooting electrical systems, supporting customers, and working hands-on with renewable energy equipment.
Position Overview
The Solar Technical Support & Field Service Technician will provide technical support to customers and installers while assisting with product testing, commissioning, diagnostics, and on-site service work.
This role combines office-based technical support with field visits for troubleshooting, system commissioning, repairs, and warranty assessments.
ResponsibilitiesTechnical Support
- Provide phone and email support for solar, battery, inverter, and backup power systems.
- Troubleshoot system performance issues and equipment faults.
- Assist customers and installers with product configuration and setup.
- Review wiring diagrams and installation photos to diagnose issues.
- Support warranty claims and manufacturer technical inquiries.
Testing & Commissioning
- Configure and commission:
- Solar inverters
- Battery systems
- Charge controllers
- Monitoring platforms
- Perform pre-shipment product testing and quality checks.
- Verify system operation and performance during startup.
Field Service
- Conduct site visits for troubleshooting and repairs.
- Diagnose electrical and communication faults.
- Replace defective components and perform system upgrades.
- Assist with commissioning new installations.
- Document service findings and corrective actions.
Documentation
- Create service reports and commissioning records.
- Maintain technical documentation and troubleshooting procedures.
- Contribute to internal knowledge base and SOP development.
QualificationsRequired
- Electrical, electronics, renewable energy, or related technical background.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working with:
- DC power systems
- Solar equipment
- Batteries and inverters
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to customer sites.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical manuals.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
Preferred
- Experience with solar PV systems.
- Experience with battery energy storage systems.
- Knowledge of Victron, Sol-Ark, EG4, Growatt, Schneider, Fortress, Pytes, or similar products.
- Electrical apprenticeship, CET, Electrician, or Renewable Energy certification.
- Experience commissioning industrial or residential electrical systems.
