Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of the Grademan include, but are not limited to:
- Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself, or endanger the wellbeing of others.
- Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas.
- Proficient in use of Laser Level, Tape Measure, etc. for establishing and maintaining site layout and construction staking.
- Reading and interpreting project drawings relevant to site work activities and projects.
- Thorough understanding of earthworks related grading and terminology. (Benchmarks, cut/fills etc.)
- Ability to observe, direct and control equipment activities to conform to stake references.
- Willingness and ability to assist the ground crew as required.
- Physical strength, stamina and coordination to complete assigned duties.
- Ability to withstand working outside, on uneven ground for long periods of time and in varying weather conditions.
- Clear communication skills.
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.
- Ensure tools are securely stored & advise the onsite supervisor of any requirements for maintenance or repairs.
- Actively participate in safety meetings and promote a safety culture
- Ability to work within proximity with heavy equipment and communicate with operators.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:
- Excellent problem-solving skills required.
- Experience with other construction equipment considered an asset
- Ability to interpret grade stakes
- Effective attention to detail with highest degree of accuracy
- Good analytical ability
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills required.
- Must be a team player with a positive attitude.
- Ability to work in outdoors in physically demanding conditions.
- Committed to working in a safe and efficient manner.
- CSA approved steel toed boots with 6” ankle support.
- CSTS-09, or CSTS- 2020 required
- First Aid and Ground Disturbance Considered an asset
- Successful candidates are required to have personal reliable transportation, and a valid driver’s license.
- Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing for pre access to some sites when required.
- Candidates must successfully complete Tierra Constructions Orientation prior to work
Schedule:
- Average of 10+/- Hour shifts
- Day shift
- Overtime as required
- In-town work
Monday-Saturday Schedule
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $24.00-$30.00 per hour
