Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician (HET)

Summary
The Journeyman HET is required to perform skilled tasks in the assembly, hydraulics, and maintenance of mobile equipment. The Journeyman HET will have the ability to troubleshoot major and minor mechanical problems, as well as have the ability to repair and adjust all necessary mechanical components. Work assignments will be received in the form of oral or written work orders, but the employee is expected to determine the nature and extent of needed repairs. Other duties may be assigned as required.

Job Duties
· Provide service for coil tubing injectors, oilfield and mobile equipment.
· Provide routine maintenance as well as component overhauls.
· Perform customer rebuilds.
· Sign off on all completed CVIPs
· Check all heavy equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions.
· Repair and adjust hydraulic pumps, safety valves, and any other necessary mechanical components.
· Diagnose defects in heavy duty equipment.
· Diagnose any faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair that is required.
· Inspect, repair and adjust hydraulic driven units.
· Perform incidental welding operations on equipment.
· Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliances.
· Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisor in order to facilitate prompt correction or reporting.
· Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
· Perform mechanical repairs on equipment in the shop and road calls when required.
· Installation of new and added-on equipment.
· Electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting and diagnostics.
· Accurate completion of work orders and timecards.
· Repair cooling, and lubrication systems.
· Install and align components.
· Repair cable-operated working attachments, winches, compressors, pumps, etc.
· Test repaired equipment for proper performance and document test results.
· Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work.
· Instruct apprentices.
· Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation.
· Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology and repair techniques.
· Other mechanical repair work as required.
Requirements
· Must hold a Journeyman’s certificate or have Red Seal.
· Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training.
· Must hold a current CVIP certification
· Appropriate credentials and certifications.
· 3 years' experience as a Heavy Duty Mechanic.
· Possess a valid driver’s license.
· Proven mechanical abilities in hydraulics and electrical, including schematics and diagnostics.
· Experience with routine maintenance operations.
· Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
· Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
· Able to work well under pressure.
· Strong attention to detail.
· Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
· Experience working in a Heavy Truck Service environment
· Must own a full set of heavy-duty service equipment tools
· Class 1 driver's license would be considered an asset
Work Conditions
· 24/7 availability may be required.
· Physical ability to lift up to 50lb.
· Travel to off-site locations may be required.
· Safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.
· Overtime as required.
· Hazards associated with the trade.
· Work both indoors and outdoors.
· May be exposed to construction sites.
Starting wage $35.00/hour increases based on experience.

Pay: From $35.00 per hour
