Position Overview
Quality Railway Services is seeking an experienced Ballast Regulator Operator to support our surfacing operations across Western Canada. This role is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of ballast regulator equipment while contributing to high-quality track performance and productivity.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical ability, leadership in the field, and a commitment to safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate ballast regulator equipment in accordance with company and railway standards
- Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance on equipment
- Ensure accurate profiling and distribution of ballast
- Communicate effectively with crew members and supervisors to meet project requirements
- Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and site-specific requirements
- Report incidents, equipment issues, and safety concerns promptly
- Maintain cleanliness and operational readiness of equipment
- Provide input to improve workflow, efficiency, and productivity
- Support and mentor crew members as needed
Qualifications
- Previous holder of CROR card & Erailsafe
- Proven experience operating a Ballast Regulator
- Strong understanding of railway surfacing operations
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic equipment maintenance
- Ability to read and interpret instructions, site plans, and safety documentation
- Solid problem-solving skills in field conditions
- Physically capable of lifting up to 75 lbs
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
