Apiary Assistant and General Acreage Assistant/Worker. We have a bee farm and are a small honey producer with under 100 bee colonies based out of Foothills County, we're not far from Heritage Heights School.
We're willing to train if you're willing to learn, preference for some beekeeping experience but not necessary. Work will involve some weekend work and some evening work for the markets that we're in. Weather will dictate whether or not we work bees, build and fix equipment, or do other projects at the bee farm.
Must have own transportation to and from the home site and be comfortable with lifting bee boxes and supers. Assist with honey harvest including removing honey supers from bee yards and moving them to the honey house for honey extraction. Bottling and packing honey into jars and pails. Assist with cleaning pails, bee equipment, boxes, honey house equipment, the honey house and prep areas. Help with the summer and fall management of bee colonies and assist with maintaining bee yards. Help assemble hive equipment, cleaning and painting bee equipment. Must be okay with being around honey bees, protective bee gear and nitrile gloves will be provided. Most of our bees are calm and easy to work since I mainly work them without gloves. Must be okay getting the odd bee sting. We're vendors at some farmer markets and night markets, this requires preparing for the market, setting up, moving displays and product to and from the market, talking with customers and the general public.
Acreage work will include harvesting garlic, preparing growing areas for fall, weeding, weed whacking, mowing grass and general yard site and pasture clean up. Assist with setting up garden beds, fixing fences, spreading mulch material and compost. Possible projects may include building small structures such as a garden shed, planters and some building maintenance and fencing. Construction work will include moving lumber and sheet goods and helping with building and basic renovation projects. Assist with pruning trees and shrubs and maintenance of the yard site. Operating various small equipment such as a lawn tractor, lawn mower, hand and power tools, nailers, router and sanders.
Work may extend until the end of October if the successful candidate is interested in continuing to work with us.

Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
