Shift Manager – Restaurant Operations
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and driven Shift Manager to oversee daily restaurant operations, deliver exceptional customer service, and lead a high-performing team. The ideal candidate has a strong background in food service, leadership, and operations management, with the ability to maintain high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily restaurant operations during assigned shifts, ensuring smooth workflow and adherence to company policies
- Lead, motivate, and manage team members, including training, coaching, and performance evaluation
- Oversee food preparation and cooking processes to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance with food safety standards
- Operate and manage POS systems (e.g., Micros POS), including accurate order processing and cash handling
- Ensure proper food handling, storage, and sanitation in compliance with health and safety regulations
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve concerns promptly to ensure a positive dining experience
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed
- Enforce workplace safety standards in both kitchen and front-of-house areas
- Support hiring processes, including interviewing and onboarding new team members
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and operational readiness throughout each shift
Qualifications
- Proven experience in restaurant management or a supervisory role within the food service or hospitality industry
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and food safety standards
- Experience with POS systems and cash handling procedures
- Demonstrated leadership and team management skills
- Excellent customer service and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to multitask and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Solid understanding of restaurant operations and industry best practices
- Previous experience in hotel or café/barista settings is an asset
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to confidently interview and assess candidates
