The team you will be joining creates the software powering the PC Express online shopping platform for groceries and household goods. What You'll Do
As the Software Development Manager for the developers working on our PC Express media initiative, you will use your technical knowledge and strong interpersonal skills to help your developers grow their careers and develop strong relationships with the partners in Product Development and Design teams.
Time management, multitasking and strong communication are key requirements of the job. You will be a champion of our Loblaw Digital values, leading by example and giving your team a guide to follow. You will be vigilant about finding and removing any barriers to your team’s success in delivering quality software.
In this role you will work directly with our partners at Loblaw Media. Together, we are building one of Canada’s most exciting media companies. Loblaw Media offers a unique set of assets and capabilities for planning and delivering advertising that helps consumer brands more effectively reach customers who will love their products. We use transaction-based insights from our online and bricks and mortar stores to target audiences and measure campaign effectiveness. We activate across our owned channels as well as 3rd party media.
Mentor and develop all the developers on your team as their direct lead
Collaborate with other teams and business partners to find the best solutions available, and if not, design and build them
Balance code quality with business requirements and customer needs
Deliver cutting edge software that enhances our customer experience
Keep things running smoothly by removing barriers and toil from your development teams
Does this sound like you?
A deep understanding of web software development with a minimum of 5 years of programming expertise in that field. While you may not code every day, understanding the context of your team’s work is paramount
Communication and interpersonal skills are paramount.
Documenting once is not enough; being able to explain something in different ways to different stakeholders is key
A track record of successfully mentoring and growing other software developers in your previous roles as a direct manager
Proven experience in JavaScript (ES 2018/2019), React, Redux
Keen awareness and understanding of performance, security, and other software development best practices
Demonstrated aptitude in system design
The ability to pick up technology quickly. We don't say "I'm not familiar with that technology," without adding, "but let me read up on it, and I'll get back to you on it."
Well versed in agile software development processes
You enjoy taking ownership of your work in an environment where leadership is a shared responsibility.
Experience with Gitflow workflow, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud native platforms (GCP, AWS, etc.)
Previous experience integrating with content management solutions and advertising technology and management solutions would be a plus
