The Graduate Affairs Assistant is responsible for supporting the effective and efficient administration of the graduate program within the Department of Computer Science, ensuring adherence to program standards and University regulations. The role serves as the primary point of contact for all inquiries from current and future students, and provides information regarding application and admission processes, orientation, program eligibility, program progression, program completion, funding, and external regulatory body procedures, acting as a liaison between the Department and the School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (SGPS). The Graduate Affairs Assistant interprets University policies, procedures and department guidelines, and acts as a critical resource to the Graduate Chair, faculty, staff and graduate students. The role contributes to ongoing refinement of program processes and procedures, creates and distributes complex course timetabling schedules using specialized software, creates, maintains and updates various departmental databases, and generates data and reports for review. The role facilitates the administration of graduate student and GTA appointments, processes financial transactions, and assists with budget preparation and forecasting.
