What is the role?
The Senior Financial Analyst (SFA) is primarily responsible for providing finance support to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and IT Directors. These responsibilities include variance analysis versus budget, invoice coding for all business units, month-end accruals, and planning and forecasting for IT budgets. Other responsibilities involve accounting support to the Financial Reporting team.
What will you do?
Preparation and distribution of monthly IT results for projects and SG&A
Lead meetings with CIO and IT Directors to review monthly results
Work with CIO and IT Directors to prepare budget/forecasts for IT projects and on-going SG&A
Ensures appropriate invoice coding and allocation to business units/IT projects.
Understanding the purpose and benefits of the project
Reviewing IT service agreements and completed CAPEX forms
Reviewing invoices and identifying charges/GL coding for SaaS fees, software implementation costs, IT software maintenance, and IT Hardware/Software CAPEX
Ensures invoices are appropriately approved prior to submission to AP
Prepare IT invoice accruals and journal entries
Data collection for IT internal labour capitalization
Support period-end, quarter-end and year-end accounting close for areas of functional responsibility.
Activities performed include:
Prepare payroll journal entries and perform reconciliations
Analyze and prepare journal entries for company and vendor loyalty programs
Assist with period-end SG&A analysis versus budget
Assist with impairment testing (fixed assets and intangibles)
Support preparation and distribution of monthly accounting management reports and statistical analysis
Assist with preparation of year-end financial statements in accordance with US GAAP including all necessary note disclosures.
Provide support for external audit
Support other team members as necessary
What will you need to succeed?
Education and Experience
Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or in the process of acquiring CPA preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
2-4 years of related financial experience
Experience working with IT personnel and IT project accounting is an asset
