Overview
Discovery Land Camp is seeking enthusiastic, responsible, and energetic Camp Counsellors for a one-week contract position during the week of July 20–24 at our Concord or Woodbridge locations.
As a Camp Counsellor, you will play a vital role in facilitating the daily camp program for a group of co-ed campers aged 5 to 12 years. Reporting directly to the Camp Director and working collaboratively with the Location Manager, you will ensure a safe, supportive, and engaging environment while also maintaining communication with parents/guardians as needed.

Responsibilities
- Supervision and Safety: Always ensure the safety and well-being of campers. Supervise them during activities, meals, and free time while enforcing camp rules to maintain a safe environment. Conduct regular headcounts to account for all campers.
- Activity Facilitation: Understand and adhere to the daily camp activity schedule. Lead various activities such as arts and crafts, sports, STEM projects, games, and field trips.
- Role Modeling: Serve as a positive role model for campers by demonstrating enthusiasm, good sportsmanship, respect, and positive attitude. Encourage them to participate, try new things, and develop confidence.
- Behavior Management: Utilize positive reinforcement techniques to encourage appropriate behavior. Address any behavioral issues promptly and effectively while maintaining a calm and respectful approach.
- Teamwork: Collaborate with fellow counsellors, the Director, and Location Manager, to plan and execute daily activities and special events.
- Camp Cleanliness: Ensure camp equipment, supplies, and facilities are clean and organized after activities and at the end of each day.
- Counsellors will be required from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Vulnerable Sector Check and CPR/First Aid certification are required.
Skills and Qualification Required
- Demonstrated experience working with children in a camp, educational, or recreational setting is mandatory.
- Graduated from or currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Education program, Early Childhood Education (ECE), or another related education program is required.
- Previous experience as a Sport Couch is an asset.
- Ability to lead and facilitate various activities including sports, arts, and STEM, following a predetermined schedule.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with children of various ages.
- Ability to educate campers effectively while making learning enjoyable through creative approaches.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple activities simultaneously while ensuring camper safety.
- A positive attitude, patience, and enthusiasm for working in an outdoor environment.
