What is the opportunity?
The Associate Director, I&TS Finance will be responsible for managing the Financial Control responsibilities in Investor & Treasury Services (I&TS) Finance group with the objective of delivering timely, accurate and reliable financial information.
The incumbent will be responsible for assurance of complete and accurate financial results, supporting Quarterly SOX certification by Global Controller and CFO. You will be responsible for Finance implementation projects to automate and improve financial reporting systems and process.
This position reports to the Director, I&TS Finance.
What will you do?
Responsible for accurate and complete Financial and Regulatory reporting for I&TS Finance business lines
Lead and redesign monthly P&L close processes to ensure robust control environment. Includes build and execution of control/governance processes to ensure accurate and complete financial information
Lead and develop a team by providing proper coaching, clear direction and expectations
Review of monthly GL data, financial results and variances. Provide meaningful analysis of financial results to ensure accurate external reporting, note disclosures, regulatory reporting & supplemental formats
Maintenance of the monthly review program to ensure financial controls are in place and the appropriate reconciliations are completed. Ensure that global policies and procedures are adhered to by all stakeholders to ensure consistency and adequacy of reconciliations
Assist in the investigation of all financial and regulatory reporting matters. Maintain technical knowledge and keep abreast of all new IFRS accounting developments. Ensure SOX and RBC End User Computing (EUC) documentation compliance and completeness including new controls / process
Coordinate with Accounting Policy / Front Office for new transactions / entities / issuances and support the operational execution and implementation of new accounting standards
Responsible to ensure new products and new transactions are appropriately captured in RBC Financial Reporting Systems, including the appropriate use of GLs and Financial Statement reporting lines
Participate in ad-hoc projects as directed by Director, I&TS Finance
What do you need to succeed?
CPA designation and/or Accounting designation
Knowledge of complex financial instruments and transactions relating to securities, derivatives and debt/equity issuances
Technical competence in relevant financial and statutory accounting standards
Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Working with Front Office staff to explain complex accounting issues in a concise and meaningful manner
Excellent presentation and report writing skills.
Strong collaboration skills and work ethic
Strong knowledge of the RBC financial systems
