Communicative Disorders Therapist
Part time, EVENINGS, 5 pm to 8 pm, Monday to Thursday
Location: St. Thomas Clinic
Pay rate is commensurate with experience
Clinical duties:
- Create individualized activities and therapy materials to meet clients’ communication and/or literacy development goals as determined by the Speech Language Pathologist (SLP).
- Create group therapy plans, as required (e.g. for camps).
- Assist the SLP in carrying out evaluation and intervention activities.
- Provide therapy to clients of any age or diagnosis as documented in treatment plans or protocols developed by the SLP.
- Prepare written and oral progress notes for client files and the SLP.
- Assist SLP with session and clinic material preparation and maintenance, as appropriate.
- Ensure all materials, tools, and equipment are cleaned and in good working order.
- Provide direct speech and language therapy to clients, individually or in small groups, under the supervision of a SLP. This includes the administration of group therapy at camps.
- Perform other clinical duties as directed by the SLP.
Clerical/Administrative duties:
- Process client payments (only if paid by debit)
- Maintain scheduled appointments for clients
- Engage with clients and families in the waiting room.
- Receive, prepare, and/or store documents for the SLP when necessary.
- Maintain office organization, including files, therapy and testing materials, and stationary.
- Respond to inquiries about our services with a focus on client acquisition and/or retention.
- Communicate with other team members within the organization to ensure continuity and accuracy in the execution of all work responsibilities.
- Communicate with other members of the circle of care, such as Physicians, Nurses, Case Managers, Audiologists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, etc.
- Participate in promotional endeavours. Such participation includes, but is not limited to, sharing of company marketing/promotional social media posts on personal social media profiles, and consent to appear in still or video images intended for promotional purposes .

- Maintenance of therapy and assessment materials used.
Qualifications:
- Required: Communicative Disorders Assistant or Communication Health Assistant diploma. Note: Your application will be rejected without further consideration if you do not meet this requirement.
- Interpersonal skills necessary to collaborate with internal team members and external community care/other service providers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and in the use of Mac desktop hardware and software.
- Registration with CDAAC or other speech and language association, such as OSLA.
- Point-of-Sale (retail), managerial, or other administrative experience.

Pay: $24.00-$28.00 per hour
Expected hours: 12 per week
