Director Strategic Initiatives, Specialty Teams and Emerging Channels
Supports the Head, Specialty Teams & Emerging Channels in executing strategic priorities for the Specialty Teams & Emerging Channels group. This includes providing ongoing thought leadership and business casing in defining and executing strategic initiatives including:
Sales amplification strategies related to overall Investment and Home Financing expansion;
Regulatory initiatives like Customer Focused Reform and C-86 Complaint Resolution;
Technology optimization initiatives (Canadian Digital Banking launch and Customer Connect revamp);
Rebranding and transformation activities (DCO, Virtual Banking, Indigenous COE)
Leads the development of priorities, current, and planned initiatives, and support requirements related to business objectives for the business/group. Leads the implementation of designated business programs; assesses and adapts as needed to ensure quality of implementation and long- term operational sustainability.
Strategic Thinking, Integration and Execution of Initiatives – 50%
Leads the development of priorities, current, and planned initiatives, and support requirements related to strategic management for the business/group.
Build and leverage business cases by identifying needs, analysing potential options and assessing expected return on investment.
Recommends business priorities, advises on resource requirements and develops roadmap for strategic execution.
Manages resources and leads the execution of strategic initiatives to deliver on business and financial goals.
Advisory/Relationship Management – 20%
Acts as a trusted advisor to senior leaders for making business decisions and implementing strategic initiatives.
Acts as the prime subject matter expert for a number of critical internal/external stakeholders. This includes representing Specialty Teams in Product Group Forums, Operating Committees, Regulatory forums among others.
Develops an expert understanding of business/group challenges. Provide detailed expertise related policies and unique processes for a number of Specialty Teams.
Networks with industry contacts to gather competitive insights and best practices.
Recommends measures to improve organizational effectiveness.
Communications/Change Management – 10%
Leads the development of the communication strategy focusing on positively influencing or changing behaviour.
Leads change management programs of varying scope and type, including readiness assessments, planning, stakeholder management, execution, evaluation and sustainment of initiatives. Collaborates across BMO to develop communications strategies and ensure consistency of messaging, in order to positively influence or change behaviour.
Operational Management – 20%
Supports the direct output of Head, Specialty Teams & Emerging Channels.
Leads the execution of designated business programs; assesses and adapts as needed to ensure quality of execution.
Develops and manages comprehensive information management systems; designs and/or leads initiatives to improve processes, analysis and reporting.
Assesses and adapts existing operational programs; develops new capabilities to ensure ongoing success.
Plans and controls unit operating expenses in accordance with forecasts.
Makes recommendations to leaders on financial management processes based on changing requirements
This includes tracking by each unique pillar the key areas of focus to drive incremental business results while also identifying areas of improvement related to process, people or technology.
Typically 9+ years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Seasoned expert with industry and market knowledge.
Expert knowledge of all compliance and industry regulations.
Technical leader viewed as a thought leader for innovation.
Proven experience and track record in strategic transformation
