Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Order Picker / General Laborer to join Largest Retailer's warehouse team. This role is essential for the efficient movement, storage, and management of inventory within our distribution center. Please note: this position is approximately 80% general labor (lifting, sorting, picking, loading/unloading by hand) and 20% Material Handling Equipment (MHE) operation, including forklifts, clamp trucks, and order pickers. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with physically demanding work in a fast-paced warehouse environment and hold experience operating MHE when needed. Safety, accuracy, and attention to detail are paramount.
Duties
- Perform general labor tasks including manual lifting, sorting, stacking, and moving of products — this makes up the majority (90%) of daily work.
- Load and unload shipments accurately while adhering to safety protocols.
- Perform order picking tasks with precision to fulfill customer orders efficiently.
- Operate MHE (forklifts, clamp trucks, order pickers) as needed — approximately 10% of daily work.
- Use warehouse management systems (WMS) to track inventory movements and update records in real-time.
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment and report any maintenance needs.
- Assist with inventory organization, stacking, and storage to optimize space utilization.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following safety procedures and guidelines.
- Collaborate with team members to meet daily operational goals and deadlines.
Skills
- Heavy lifting capability and physical stamina for sustained general labor.
- Experience operating forklifts, clamp trucks, and order pickers.
- Familiarity with warehouse distribution processes and inventory management systems.
- Experience with order picking procedures within a warehouse setting.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations for inventory counts and measurements.
- Good understanding of warehouse and MHE safety standards.
- Basic computer skills for using warehouse management systems (WMS).
